Mortal Kombat 11 to have multiple endings?
It’s been recently announced on the official twitter account for Mortal Kombat that there will be multiple endings in NetherRealms newest venture Mortal Kombat 11. Considering that both Mortal Kombat X and Injustice 2 had multiple endings I wouldn’t consider this news to be too surprising, doesn’t mean it isn’t welcomed.
Reportedly Mortal Kombat 11 is set to have the biggest story yet for the series, a welcome piece of information for sure, the main issue many faced in MKX was the small story mode, it could be completed in a couple of hours or less depending on the skill of the player. The story was however enjoyable and perhaps the best one yet so to hear that MK11 is going to carry on straight from X with an increased story time is fantastic news.
Creative director Ed Boon also confirmed the rumour in an interview, it is a pleasure to see that the replay value their games have is becoming a more prominent feature. Neither the publisher Warner Bros. or the developer NetherRealms have exclusively revealed these multiple ending details it would seem almost certain that this is the case given the recent interview of Ed Boon and the announcement on the official twitter account for the franchise.
Multiple endings could not only open up replay value for the sake of simply seeing another ending but perhaps experiencing all possible endings in the only way to unlock all possible characters, one secret character for each ending could give an incentive to players to actually experience the story for themselves multiple times rather than watch the other endings on YouTube. Also will these multiple different endings be based on a single decision at the end of the story or will we be faced will multiple decisions as the story progresses to determine our ending?
Hopefully this piece of news is as true as it appears to be. As more news, characters and features get confirmed I shall keep you all up to date with the latest goings on with Mortal Kombat 11.
Giving each character a short story section of their own sounds like a brilliant idea. However, rumor has it that this concept didn’t go well with Tekken 7. It kinda worked on SOULCALIBUR VI though; probably because it was only like half an hour long unlike having some cutscenes and a battle. I just hope it works with Mortal Kombat 11. Thanks for the news!
