Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice gets a release date!

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH finally!!! As a huge fan of the Tenchu, the Souls series and Bloodborne I think it would be fair to say that I am a From Software fan girl, I live for their games, they are so intricate and well designed that it’s impossible for me not to love them so naturally when they released their teaser trailer for Shadows Die Twice back in December of last year I was both intrigued and ecstatic. I was hoping and praying that it was going to be Bloodborne 2, though I knew it wouldn’t be, but my interests were peaked, I had no doubt I was going to love whatever From Soft threw our way.

Come E3 2018 we got the elaboration we had been waiting for since last year, it confirmed what most of us had know all along, it wasn’t a sequel to what I consider to be From Softwares best game, rather it was a new IP, a very impressive looking title called Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and you know what I fell in love immediately! Sekiro appeals to me in so many ways, it shares resemblance to a Dark Souls game in the play style, the unforgiving nature and of course bosses. This new title also brings forward another love of mine, oriental culture, I love the history of Japan, any chance to get to experience any cultural experiences from their history is exciting for me. I think of it as a mixture of Bloodborne and Tenchu.

The one thing that was missing from E3 was a release date, which didn’t sit well with me as I needed to know when I was going to be able to get my hands on what looks set to be a game of the year competitor. As I opened this post with, FINALLY! We have a release date, mark your calendars people for March 22nd 2019, admittedly for me this release date isn’t ideal thanks to The Division 2 also seeing a March 2019 release but that isn’t going to stop me from grabbing them both, I’ll just forget what the outside world looks like for a while…

I knew the impending release date wasn’t going to be until next year, I did however think it was going to be in the second half, potentially being a summer release at the earliest. Just knowing that I don’t even have a year to wait makes me feel all warm inside, having already platinumed Dark Souls Remastered I am eagerly waiting for my next From Software fix. Just a shame that as a citizen of the UK it looks like I am going to miss out on a impressive looking collectors edition. What about you, are you looking forward to Sekiro?
